The QE Home story begins in 1989 in Vancouver, Canada. Howard and Jixin were economics students completing their PhDs at Simon Fraser University. As soon as they met, they knew that they had strong complementary skills and talent to build something great together. With nothing but a truckload of passion and energy, they began trying out various products before serendipitously coming across a duvet wrapped in a simple bag. The product was beautiful, comfortable, and an exceptional price – they had a winning product they felt passionate about.
In 1992, QE Home opened its first two stores as Quilts Etc. in Clearbrook and Nanaimo, BC where the duo were teaching college economics to help fund their dream business. The stores, though scrapped together with second-hand fixtures from local drug stores and holding little product, proved that they were on the right path. Their goal, which remains the same today, was to provide Canadian consumers with beautiful bedding products at any budget.
Almost 30 years later, QE Home has evolved from a small family run business into Canada’s premier fashion bedding specialty retailer. Our company has grown from the humble days of Howard and Jixin driving around BC with whatever product could be crammed into their second-hand truck.
Today, we have an in-house team of designers who are constantly creating new fashions in bedding that are exclusive to QE Home. We also have a product team that is always on the hunt to find new and improved ways to meet the ever-changing needs of millions of Canadians who shop in our 75 stores, located in cities and towns across Canada -- from the west coast of Vancouver Island to the tip of Newfoundland.
Our exclusive bedding designs range from trendy to timeless, with options for every budget, whether you’re looking for a major sleep upgrade or just a pop of colour to liven up a room. From the fabric of our duvet covers to the content of our duvets, we’re committed to being eco-friendly and Earth-aware – whether it be sourcing fabrics made from environmentally sustainable, closed-loop processes or reducing plastics in our packaging.
